Rocketmine, a South African based subsidiary of the listed Delta Drone Group, has signed a new contract with mining giant Exxaro Resources to bring 3-D modelling of the mine and its infrastructure to this industry in Africa.
Exarro recently announced the launch of its radical R3.3 billion “smart” mine in Belfast, Mpumalanga, where cutting-edge technology will create a digital replica of the mine.
The smart mine will open up new opportunities for remote management and improved safety.
The project will see Rocketmine provide drone mapping, 3D modelling progress and Virtual Reality Visualisation for this pioneering and innovative development.
Rocketmine’s technologies will allow teams at the Belfast mine to “walk” safely around their new mine in Virtual Reality as well as use the 3-D modelling for training through simulation.
This is likely to change the way the industry approaches technology in the future.
In addition, Rocketmine’s Ghanaian operations continue to strengthen and expand.
The company owned by Delta Drone Group has also signed a 5-year contract for the integration of drone survey technology at the Newmont Akyem mine in that country.
It said the extensive deal is a testament to the value which is offered by these technologies and the excellent work provided by the Rocketmine team in West Africa.
Rocketmine is also eyeing new opportunities in Namibia, where mines have requested a trial of its services to assist in stockpile management.
